CNC Skive Turning

Skive turning is a method of producing complex shapes without CNC interpolation of 2 axes. The profile shape is built into the cutting tool, allowing simpler machine movements and minimal tooling or tool changes.

The machine shown comprised of the following:

  • Bar feeder to load bar stock material
  • CNC Skiving machining centre consisting of 3 axes for profiling, drilling, facing, parting, part catching & bar stopper
  • Back chamfer unit to add the chamfer after parting
  • Part conveyor through steam cleaner
  • Ring steam knife cleaning system
  • Rotary cooling conveyor
  • Packing into plastic bags with part diverter
  • Integrated swarf shredding and briquetting system
  • Machining using Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL)
